NSW Crest on whiteSVNSW is pleased to announce the selection of 41 athletes to attend an AJBVC Squad Camp this month.

Following three open trials, the first of which was held prior to the Christmas holidays, these athletes have proven themselves to be the most spirited and experienced junior beach volleyball athletes keen to represent NSW at the Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Championships in Adelaide, 9-12 April.

The Camp will be the final opportunity for the NSW Junior State Team (Beach) Coaches to explore player combinations and also test both the individuals and the teams in their skills and on-court strategies.  Coaches will be looking for the best possible combination of players, before selecting the travelling teams which will  compete in U15 (3-a-side), U17, U19 and U23 (pairs) divisions at the national championships.

SVNSW is still investigating opportunities for the U15B division, as we look for junior boys experienced in volleyball, who would like the opportunity to play representative junior beach volleyball (3-a-side) at the AJBVC Adelaide.  Please contact Michelle Slack-Smith for more information.

This is an exciting time for SVNSW in this re-building phase of the NSW Junior State Team program, specifically for beach volleyball.  The developing program for junior beach athletes is an important stepping stone in a national pathway of opportunities for young men and women who aspire to represent their State and their Country, in beach volleyball.

We'd like to make a special mention of those who have contributed to the NSW Junior State Team (Beach) program so far:

  • Nam Pham (AJBVC Mentor Coach)
  • Roger Jones, Sabine Link, Gareth Mann, Marcos Molina (AJBVC Coaches)
  • Northern Beaches Volleyball Association and Coogee Beach Volleyball Association, and Gregor Salvin (beachvolleyball.com.au) for support with training venues.
