For the first time in 2016, Volleyball Australia will introduce an U15's division in the Australian Junior Volleyball Championship. SVNSW will need to field teams in these divisions for both boys and girls.
A new competition will be implemented by SVNSW to prepare and select this younger age group. 5 teams (North, West, South, Metro 1 and Metro 2) will compete in both boys and girls divisions in the NSW U15's State Championships. A sixth team from the Riverina area may be also be included.
This will require each region to prepare a boys and girls team for a 2-day competition to be held at the Sydney Academy of Sport in the April School Holidays (16-17 April). We are hoping that schools and clubs will encourage students to trial for these representative teams as the first step to representative volleyball.
We are now calling for expressions of interest from the regions to manage the teams from the North, West and South.
Management could be an individual, association, or group of interested members. The management would need to appoint coaches, arrange trials and training, and be the liaison between SVNSW, the program and the parents. SVNSW will arrange the logistics of the tournament: accommodation, food and uniforms. The regional manager will just need to prepare the teams and get them to the venue.
If you are interested in managing or coaching one of the regional teams, please call Nam Pham, Operations Manager on 8736 1263 for more information.
We would like to appoint the managers by the end of the week so that we can promote trial dates, and appoint coaches as soon as possible.
