Olympians to Join Next Generation at NSW State Team Presentation
SVNSW is thrilled to spend an afternoon with Sydney 2000 Olympians this weekend, at the NSW Junior State Team Program's final squad training session.
From humble beginnings as high school champions, to AIS Scholarship holders and challengers for the FIVB World Championship, Spiros Marazios and Christie Mokotupu have covered all corners of the globe through their travels as elite volleyball athletes. The Sydney 2000 Olympics was a special occasion for them both to play at the highest level in front of family and friends, right here in Australia.
This Saturday, these special guests will join the seven NSW Junior State Teams at their final squad training session at Sydney Olympic Park, before NSW departs on Sunday 6th July for the Australian Junior Volleyball Championships in Canberra.
Spiros and Christie are sure to inspire the next generation of talented athletes when they share their experiences of life on the road as an international volleyballer, present the Captain's jerseys to the seven team Captains, and then make some lucky ticket-holders very happy with the drawing of prizes in the 2014 NSW Junior State Team Fundraising "Monster Raffle".
